Onslip is a modern, cloud-based point-of-sale system that syncs your sales in real time. For the Onslip app to provide you with a fast and smooth workflow, your hardware—such as a tablet or Android terminal—needs to be connected to the internet. If the local network is temporarily unstable, communication may be affected. Here, we’ll walk you through a few simple steps to quickly optimize and restore a stable connection.
Temporarily turn off your device Just like with cell phones, your device sometimes benefits from a restart to reconnect to the network.
- Hold down the On/Off button (usually on the left or right side) until the device turns off.
- Leave it turned off for a few moments. While the device is off, let’s move on to the next step.
2. Restart the network and reboot everything. Often, simply restarting the router and modem is enough to restore a stable connection.
- Turn off both the modem and the router (if you use both).
- Take the opportunity to check that all network cables are securely in place.
- Start the modem first. Wait patiently for about 40 seconds until it is fully up and running and all lights are green (or blue on some modems).
- Then start the router. Wait in the same way until all its lights are steady, and finally turn your device back on.
3. Check the connection once the device has started up Once your hardware is up and running again, the next step is to make sure it uses only one connection method. If both Wi-Fi and an Ethernet cable are enabled at the same time, the operating system may become confused about which connection to use.
- Go to Settings on the device (the gear icon).
- Are you using Wi-Fi? Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and that Ethernet (cable) is turned off.
- Are you using a cable? Make sure Ethernet is turned on and that Wi-Fi is turned off.
There you go! Now the basics are optimized. Once you’ve gone through these three steps, you’ve given your hardware the very best conditions for a stable and fast connection. The system should now be running smoothly again!
Tip: An extra check of the date and time Did you know that cloud-based services rely on the device’s clock matching the network’s time to synchronize data securely? If the connection feels unstable, it might be worth doing a quick check:
- Go to Settings on the device.
- Scroll down to Date & Time.
- Make sure Automatic date and time is turned on.
- Check that the correct time zone is selected and feel free to use the 24-hour format.
If the network is still unstable Once you’ve optimized the settings according to the steps above and the connection is still not completely stable, it’s usually due to external factors on your internet service provider’s end. We recommend contacting your provider to verify that they can deliver a stable signal to your location.
