Onslip Academy: Create members at the register (02:08 min) Link to the video: Build your membership base and create campaigns. In the video, we walk through how to manage members and create unique offers for your regulars.
1. Preparations in the Backoffice.
Before you can start linking customers at the register, you need to make sure your customer database is ready.
-
Create customers: Go to Loyalty → Customers. Here you can add customers one by one or use Table mode to import many at once.
Use tags: You can divide your customers into different segments (e.g., “VIP” or “Staff”) using tags. This is perfect for managing automatic discounts during future campaigns.
Customer Screen Settings: If you have a PAX E800 POS, you can let customers check in themselves. Enable this under Loyalty → Loyalty Settings.
2. Manually Link a Customer at the POS
When you’re at the POS and processing a payment, you can quickly link the purchase to a customer:
Tap the “Add Customer” button at the bottom of the screen.
Existing customer: Search for and select the customer from the list.
New customer: If the customer isn't listed, tap “Create.” You only need to enter a name to get started.
Scanning: If the customer has a driver’s license or a digital vCard (QR code), you can scan it directly with your barcode scanner to automatically fill in the details.
Tip! If a customer redeems a personal gift certificate, they are automatically linked to the purchase.
3. Let the customer link themselves (PAX E800)
If you have a register with a customer screen, the customer can handle the linking themselves while you ring up the items. The customer is presented with three options on the screen:
Via mobile (QR code): The customer scans a QR code with their own mobile phone. They can then quickly share their name and phone number directly with your register. If they aren’t already members, you’ll receive a notification that they want to join.
Scan ID: The customer holds their barcode (e.g., on their driver’s license) up to the camera on the customer screen. The register then matches the ID document against your customer database.
Enter ID: The customer can manually enter their customer number, social security number, or phone number on a keypad. If no match is found, you as the cashier receive a notification and can choose to create a new customer with a single click.
Why use the membership feature?
Smoother digital receipts: When a customer is linked, the receipt is automatically sent to their registered email.
Targeted campaigns: You can easily send SMS or email campaigns to specific customer segments.
Easy management: You can download your customer list as a .csv file at any time to use in other marketing software.
