For the register and your Bluetooth printer to communicate reliably, the pairing must be correctly configured for your specific device. If you see the message “Broken pipe,” it simply means that the wireless connection has been temporarily lost. Follow these steps to recalibrate the connection.
Step 1: Ensure a clean pairing
Sometimes the printer needs a fresh connection to your POS system.
Go to your device’s Bluetooth settings and “forget” the current printer.
Then, hold down the pairing button on the printer for at least 10 seconds to reset its memory.
- Pair the printer with your device again.
Step 2: Calibrate “Auto Connection” (Android vs. iOS)
Depending on whether you’re using an Android POS or an Apple device (iOS), the printer’s built-in Auto Connection feature must be set to the correct mode to avoid interruptions.
Android devices: Auto Connection should be OFF.
- iOS devices (iPad/iPhone): Auto Connection should be ON.
Here’s how to check and change the Auto Connection setting:
Turn on the printer.
Hold down the reset button to toggle the setting.
The printer will print a status receipt confirming the new setting (Auto Connection: ON or OFF). Press the button again if you need to change it.
Restart the printer to save and activate the selected mode.
Step 3: Verify at the checkout
Open the Onslip app and go to Devices.
Reconnect the printer and perform a test print. Communication is now calibrated for your operating system, and the connection should be stable.
