Here we summarise the latest simplifications from the Swedish Tax Agency, as well as important information about upcoming technical requirements for those who use cash registers.
New rules for 2027
From 1 January 2027, new rules from the Swedish Tax Agency regarding cash registers (SKVFS 2021:17) will apply. The main requirement under the new legislation is that cash registers must be able to export their transaction logs in XML format for specific time periods.
What does this mean for you as an Onslip customer? You do not need to do anything. As Onslip is a modern, cloud-based till system, your data is stored securely in the cloud, and our system is fully approved by the Swedish Tax Agency and already meets the requirements for 2027. By using Onslip, you have a future-proof solution where we ensure that the software always complies with current legislation.
If you have an older till (for example, a button-operated till with pre-installed software) from another supplier, we recommend that you review it before 2027, as many of these will not be able to be updated to meet the XML requirements.
Simplified rules from 1 October 2025
In addition to the forthcoming requirements for 2027, the Swedish Tax Agency has also relaxed certain rules to make things easier for business owners:
- IID plates removed: The requirement to affix physical identification plates to registration and control units has been completely abolished.
- Exemption from the reporting obligation: Under certain conditions, businesses are no longer required to report registration units belonging to their customers (e.g. customers’ own mobile phones when placing an order).
