In food service environments, the ordering device is the staff’s most important tool—it’s the phone or tablet they use to submit guests’ orders. For your devices to communicate with each other, it’s important to have stable network connectivity. Here are our recommended steps to ensure the highest possible reliability in your kitchen workflow.
Recommended connection check
1. Tip: Give your network equipment a fresh start:
A simple restart is often the most effective way to refresh connections:
- Restart your router.
- If you use switches or wireless access points, restart those as well.
- Once the network equipment is fully up and running again, restart the receipt printers and ordering devices.
- Then try sending receipts again.
2. Verify coverage in the premises:
Try sending receipts from several different locations in your premises using the order terminal. If the connection is good in some places but not in others, this may indicate that the wireless network needs to be boosted, or that there are physical obstacles affecting the signal.
3. Check the network connection:
Ensure that all hardware has a good connection to the network by doing the following:
- Check that all cables are securely plugged into their ports.
- Verify that the router and switches have normal status indicators (usually solid or flashing green lights).
4. Use static IP addresses for maximum stability:
To ensure that devices always find each other immediately, we recommend using static IP addresses. This means that each device is assigned a fixed address on the network, creating a much more stable communication path between your devices.
- See instructions for network-connected printers here. (link to How to connect your network printer)
- For ordering devices (link to Ordering device) such as iPads, iPhones, Samsung devices, or similar tablets and smartphones, we recommend following the manufacturer’s own instructions on how to set a static IP address.
By following these simple optimization steps, you create the best conditions for a stable workflow between your ordering device and the receipt printer.
