To protect your transactions, Swish imposes very strict security requirements on the digital connection. If you encounter status message 422 during installation, it simply means that the security certificate from Swish and the key in Backoffice need to be regenerated so they match exactly.
Follow our simple guide to quickly set up a verified and secure Swish connection!
1. How secure matching works When you click “Generate Swish Key” in the Backoffice, a unique and secure request is created. You then copy this to create a certificate with Swish. For the activation to be approved, Swish's response must match our request exactly. (If it does not, status message 422 will be displayed.)
2. Keep the tab open during the process Once your unique certificate request has been created in the Backoffice, it is important that you keep that web page open in the background. If you navigate away from the page or refresh it, your request will be reset for security reasons, and you will need to start over.
3. Always create a completely new key Every time you click Generate Swish Key in Backoffice, you also need to create a completely new, associated certificate within Swish. For security reasons, it is not possible to reuse an old certificate for a new key.
- Tip: Avoid clicking the button in Backoffice again—that way, you can try several times at your own pace within Swish!
4. Copy the entire certificate When you retrieve the certificate from Swish, be sure to copy the entire text string exactly into the Backoffice.
- The chain usually consists of 3–4 blocks of text.
- Each block begins with ---BEGIN CERTIFICATE---.
- Make sure every single character is included so that the system can approve and activate your new Swish connection right away!
